Tile
Tile inspections are performed using certified field-testing procedures.
During the inspection signs of flooring, failures are noted. These include but are not limited to chipping, dirty joints, grout with uneven color, unnatural stains, lippage and unevenness, cracks, and adhesive failure.
Most tile flooring failures are the result of moisture damage, improper subfloor treatment, improper adhesive application, improper following of manufacturer installation specifications, and/or improper tile application.
Upon completion of your inspection, The Floor Inspector will provide a detailed written report, summarizing your specific site conditions benchmarked against the manufacturer's guidance and industry standards citations. Photographic images of the affected flooring, as well as microscopic images, will supplement your report when supportive documentation of this nature is needed.
Carpet
The Floor Inspector performs a thorough inspection using certified field-testing procedures with a specific focus on the affected areas. We typically survey the carpeting for delamination, wrinkling, rippling, fading, streaks, other visible texture concerns, pattern match/runoff issues, soiling, staining, cleaning issues, shedding excessively, pilling or fuzzing, and seam breakdown. All of these are classic examples of carpet failure.
Carpets tend to fail due to improper installation, subfloor issues, or manufacturer defects. Your carpet inspection will consider all signs of failure, relative home conditions, and typical manufacturer installation standard practices.
